Golden Plains Shire Council is pleased to announce the appointment of the organisation’s Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO), following the resignation of Eric Braslis who will be finishing with Council on 3 May 2024.
In a decision aimed at ensuring continuity and stability, Council has appointed Mr Michael Tudball as Interim CEO following his endorsement at last night’s Council meeting.
“Michael steps into this vital role and will guide the organisation through this transition period while Council undertakes a thorough recruitment process for a permanent replacement,” Golden Plains Shire Council Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said.
With a wealth of experience in local government, Michael brings a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities facing rural councils. With a background across local and state government spanning more than 15 years, Michael brings experiences from across the sector in senior executive and CEO roles at Moira, Hindmarsh, Corangamite, Southern Grampians and Melton Councils. His proven track record in leading councils through periods of change aligns seamlessly with Golden Plains Shire Council's ongoing commitment to serving the needs of our community and fostering sustainable growth during this time.
During his tenure as Interim CEO, Michael will work closely with Council and across the organisation to ensure continuity in essential services, promote economic development initiatives, and maintain open lines of communication with residents, businesses and stakeholders.
Mayor Cunningham thanked the outgoing CEO Eric Braslis for his service to Golden Plains Shire Council and the community over the past six-and-a-half years.
“Eric’s outstanding leadership set our Council up for success, steering the organisation through some challenging times, helping them through the pandemic, floods and fires,” Cr Cunningham said.
The recruitment process for an ongoing CEO is already underway, with a dedicated recruitment company tasked with finding a dynamic leader who shares Council's vision for Golden Plains Shire’s future. Council is committed to a thorough and inclusive process, seeking input from various stakeholders to ensure the best possible candidate is selected to lead the organisation forward.
"We are confident that Michael’s leadership as Interim CEO will provide the stability and strategic direction needed during this transition," Cr Cunningham said.
