Golden Plains Shire provides residents with a mobile library service which visits nine townships across the Shire along with a permanent library located in High Street, Bannockburn.

Bannockburn Library

The Bannockburn Library provides a full range of public library services and collections to the general community.

The Library consists of the following:

• 540 square metres of space
• 35 hours service per week including 1 evening and Saturday mornings
• 15,000 print and multimedia collection items
• 6 public internet/multipurpose computers
• Free wifi access
• Children’s area
• Youth space
• Study and reading spaces
• Outdoor reading courtyard
• Kids' Play and Learn computers featuring select early literacy and numeracy development games (with child friendly keyboard and mouse)
• Library programs and events including Weekly Toddler time, Preschool and Baby Time story sessions (see session times below)
• Meeting room available for hire.

About our library

The Bannockburn Library was officially opened on Saturday 5 May, 2012 by Mr Les Rowe, President of the Bannockburn Primary School Council and Cr Geraldine Frantz, Mayor, Golden Plains Shire Council. This purpose built, modern library is Golden Plains Shire’s first permanent library, replacing the mobile library service that previously visited the town and providing valuable community space and library services to the area. Located in High Street, opposite the School, the library functions as the school library as well as providing the full range of public library services and collections to the general community.

There are a huge range of activites, events and programs run in libraries across the region.

Regular events at Bannockburn:

Baby Time: Every Friday 11.30am, except during January.

Toddler Time: Every Tuesday 10.30am, during school terms.

Preschool Story Time: Every Thursday 10.30am, during school terms.
