The Y Bannockburn

The Y Bannockburn offers a range of activities for the whole community;

Gymnastics - Edgym (Preschool Program), Intro Gym (Primary School Aged Children)- pathway to Recreational Gymnastics and Competitive Gymnastics  offered at Arena North Geelong and and Newtown Stadium

Basketball- aussie slammers- Skill development program for primary school aged children, domestic competitions, Junior and Senior Domestic competition and Rock up  and Casual shooting

Netball- Net- Set- Go -Skill development program for primary school aged children, junior annd Senior  competsition

Pickelball -combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong using a paddle and plastic ball with holes and played on a badminton sized court. Great activitiy for  over 16+ and any ability.

Rookie Sports- Program designed for social interaction and fundamental motor skill development for pre- school aged children. Combines sporting games  with fun social interaction with children and coaches.

Kyokushin Karate- Build fitness, strength and confidence

The Y Bannockburn continues to partner with and support Kyokushin Karate who specialise in full contact Japanese martial arts. Kyokushin provide two designated classes for Young Lion’s specialist kid’s class (5-10 year olds) and a general class (11 years- Adults).

Free trials are available through Kyokushin and all skill levels are accepted.

Traditional martial arts begins and ends with courtesy. Always treat your instructors with respect. If you cannot find it within you to show respect for the people taking their time to teach and train with you, then you do not belong in a Kyokushin Dojo.

Postnatal Fitness & Wellbeing Classes @ the Y

Restore, improve and increase your energy and fitness levels in our safe and welcoming classes at the Y! All our classes are run by our qualified coach, Anna, who will have you feeling happier, healthier and more connected with every class... and best of all, you don't need to find a babysitter!

All our classes are designed specifically for postpartum bodies to help maintain healthy joint function and improve strength and fitness in a safe, nurturing environment.

Yoga- 

Beginner or professional, yoga helps your strength, flexibility and mind-body awareness

The Y provides Yoga classes for all abilities and all ages whether you can touch your toes or you can’t.

The Y specialises in adapting programs to suit individual needs and provides a qualified instructor to help participants get the best out of their classes. Yoga is beneficial for increased flexibility, increased muscle control, improvement of energy and breathing techniques as well as cardio health.

Located at Bannockburn Community Sports Stadium - 32 High Street, Bannockburn 3331

Senior activities include;

Soft Tennis- Modified game of the tennis played wiith a paddle and 90mm soft ball on a badminton court that has active adults enjoying the physcial activity and the social groups on a weekly basis. Soft tennis is played on Mondays and Fridays 10:00am-11:30am.

Steady Feet- The program focuses on delivering safe, low to moderate intensity work-outs incorporating gentle aerobic movements, weight-bearing or resistance exercise and stretching - all of which help improve strength, balance, and self-confidence. It’s also a great way to meet new people, as Rose attests.
