Inverleigh Bowls Club

A committee of persons interested in the formation of a bowls club at Inverleigh was formed in the late 1980's.  After a long and arduous beginning, with many set backs, the greens were established, buildings erected, fences and watering systems put in place.  When, eventually, we opened the club it was free of debt due to many hours of voluntary labour. The club was officially formed in May 1986.

Social bowls was played until the membership increased and the club was able to affiliate with G.D.B.A. and G.D.L.B.A. in the early 2000's.(now know as G.B.R.)  These early days built the spirit of the club and we were happy group of members when, finally, we were able to field pennant teams and enter association events.

Our Tuesday Pennant team won the Premiership in 2001/02 in a combined team with Drumcondra, in what was known then as Second Division.  Fortunately with increased membership since then we have been able to field a team each year in our own right.

Due to successful grant applications in 2008 the grass green was replaced with a synthetic surface and in 2009 a new club house facility was built.  The past few years have seen the club membership expand and become more competitive in our bowling endeavors.

The club celebrated its’ 30th birthday in 2016 with some of the original founding members able to attend and help celebrate.  Have a look in the Photo Gallery.

As can be seen on our Honours page we have become a very successful club and we are very proud of our achievements.  We may only be a small club but we continue to perform well which is all thanks to our members that continue to volunteer their time to help make the club thrive.

We celebrate this bowling success while maintaining the ethos of the Inverleigh Bowls Club, which is, "Hospitality and Friendship".
