
Council is celebrating National Reconciliation Week for 2022 from 27 May to 3 June. The theme this year is Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for all. Council will be holding a series of events and activities in celebration of the week.
All young people aged 12 to 25 years are welcome to attend the Golden Plains Youth Hub on Wednesday 1 June to celebrate First Nations culture and pay respects to the Traditional Owners of the land.
Nikki McKenzie, a proud Aboriginal woman with Wadawarrung Country heritage, will perform an official Welcome to Country, followed by a smoking ceremony. There will also be a didgeridoo performance with Norm Stanley, a proud Aboriginal man with heritage connected to the Kurnai and Wotjabaluk people of Victoria.
