Golden Plains Shire Council will enter the Election Period from 12pm, Tuesday 17 September until 6pm, Saturday 26 October 2024. This ensures that Council’s ordinary business remains transparent and impartial while the next Council is elected.  

Under Council’s Election Period Policy, which regulates what Council can print, publish, promote and distribute, residents may notice changes to Council’s regular operations until the Election Period ends at 6pm, Saturday 26 October, 2024.  

Council’s social media activity on platforms including Facebook, X, LinkedIn and Instagram will be reduced, with no posts from the Golden Plains Mayor, Golden Plains Farmers Market, Golden Plains Early Years, Golden Plains Youth and Arts and Culture - Golden Plains social media accounts during this time. Comments and messages on all social media will also be turned off during this time.  

Additionally, Council’s website will feature minimal content, and certain materials that could be perceived as electoral in nature will be removed.  

All communications released by Council during the Election Period will be reviewed and certified by the CEO. The Election Period Policy can be accessed by clicking here.

Council’s Customer Experience team will remain available to assist residents with queries. The team can be reached in person at Council’s Customer Hubs in Bannockburn and Smythesdale, as well as online and over the phone at 5220 7111.
