Golden Plains Local Food Network: First Meeting

Food Forum First Meeting
Health & Wellbeing

Golden Plains Shire Council has partnered with Sustain: The Australian Food Network to establish a Golden Plains Local Food Network (the Network) in 2024.

The formation of the Network follows a Community Food Survey undertaken in January 2024 (which aimed to understand the community’s food system needs and priorities) and the Golden Plains Food Forum event, which was held in March 2024. An Expression of Interest process to join the Network was also open from March through to April 2024 for interested community members.

The newly formed Network had it’s first meeting in May, where they met as a networking opportunity and make their introductions to each other.

The Network is made up of producers, allied health partners, retailers, young people and community members from across the Shire.

The Network will continue to meet in the next 12 months and work towards creating an action plan to support the local agriculture and food industries in Golden Plains Shire.

During this time, we’ll be sharing updates on how the Network is progressing and keep our local community informed on the key actions of the Network and implementation of the action plan.

If you are interested in contributing to the Network, or would like some further information, please contact Council’s Community Development team at [email protected] or call 5220 7111.
