Golden Plains Shire Council is excited to announce the return of its Community Strengthening Grants Program in 2024, with applications open from Thursday 1 August for local community groups.

Community Strengthening Grants provide a valuable opportunity for our local community groups and organisations to deliver vital projects, programs, and events to the Golden Plains community, delivering on the Community Vision 2040 and the Council’s priority actions.

Community groups are invited to apply for grants of up to $10,000, available in four categories:

  •  Healthy Active Living – to support recreation, sport, health and wellbeing projects.
  • Creative Community – to support arts and culture projects.
  • Environment and Sustainability – to support projects that improve the environment.
  • Community Safety – to support projects that equip communities to be safe and resilient.

Grants will be awarded to eligible community organisations, sporting clubs and not-for-profit groups that demonstrate innovative ideas, promote inclusivity and social connection while also contributing to the overall wellbeing of residents in Golden Plains Shire’s vibrant communities. Previous projects supported by these grants have included community events, community arts, environmental activities, cultural celebrations, and skill-building programs.

Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham encourages local community groups to apply for a grant and deliver positive initiatives for the community.

“We are thrilled to be able to deliver a round of Community Strengthening Grants in 2024. These grants have historically proven to be a brilliant source of financial support for many local events, programs and projects in Golden Plains,” Cr Cunningham said.

“Council is committed to supporting the development of thriving communities to empower and build the capacity of our residents and groups to get involved and make significant contributions to Golden Plains,” he said.

Community groups are strongly encouraged to discuss their application with Council’s Community Grants team. Please enquire soon to allow adequate time for discussion prior to submitting your application.

Groups must match the amount of funding sought in cash and/or through in-kind contributions (such as in-kind volunteer support) and Council will support community groups through the grant application and acquittal process.

Applications are open from Thursday 1 August and close at 2pm, Monday 2 September 2024. For more information about Community Strengthening Grants, visit goldenplains.vic.gov.au/grants or contact Council’s Community Grants team at [email protected] or call 5220 7111.
