Golden Plains Shire Council has partnered with Sustain: The Australian Food Network to establish a Golden Plains Local Food Network (the Network) in 2024.

The Local Food Network recently had their fourth and final meeting for 2024 and adopted their 1-year Action Plan. The Action Plan is based on 5 key priority areas, including Governance, Food Security, Access & Economy, Education and Connection, and works to support the local agriculture and food industries in Golden Plains Shire.

Working groups were also formed to ensure implementation of the Action Plan.

The Network is made up of producers, allied health partners, retailers, young people and community members from across the Shire.

The Network will continue to meet in 2025, and Council will provide updates on how the Network is progressing and keep our local community informed on the key actions of the Network and implementation of the Action Plan.

If you are interested in contributing to the Network, or would like some further information, please contact Council’s Community Development team at [email protected] or call 5220 7111.
