
In celebration of National Carers Week 2024, Golden Plains Shire Council in partnership with local workshop organisers, will host a series of free events in Smythesdale, Dereel and Bannockburn.
National Carers Week recognises the dedication and compassion of unpaid carers who selflessly support family members and loved ones living with illnesses, disability, or age-related challenges.
This year, National Carers Week runs from Sunday 13 to Saturday 19 October with the theme ‘Millions of Reasons to Care.’
Council warmly invites carers from across the Shire to join in these events as an opportunity to celebrate their remarkable contributions. Event details are:
- Monday 7 October from 10am to 12pm – Cuppa & Craft and lunch at The Well, 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale
- Wednesday 9 October from 12pm – Lunch at Dereel Community Hall, 14 Swamp Road, Dereel
- Thursday 10 October from 12 to 3pm – Lunch followed by Sewcial Arts and Crafts at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre, 25-27 High Street, Bannockburn

These events are a wonderful way to for us to show our appreciation and gratitude to the carers in Golden Plains, whose ongoing commitment makes a lasting impact on our community, Mr Walden said.
