Golden Plains Shire Council in partnership with Women with Disabilities Victoria is proud to present a Prevention of Violence Against Women with Disabilities workshop that will be held on Wednesday 14 May from 6 to 7pm, online via Zoom.

Facilitated by individuals with lived experience, the workshop will explore the concepts of disability and ableism, as well as the prevalence and impact of violence against women and gender-diverse individuals with disabilities. The workshop will also examine how gender and disability inequalities intersect to contribute to violence and discuss key actions needed to prevent such violence.

Golden Plains Shire Council Mayor Cr Sarah Hayden encouraged community members to attend this important workshop.

Council is proud to present this workshop in partnership with Women with Disabilities Victoria to the community which will discuss the intersection of disability, ableism, and gender-based violence. These are important topics that impact many people in our community, Cr Hayden said.

I encourage you to bring your family and friends along to this virtual session and hear from individuals with lived experience who will provide an insight into the experiences of women and gender diverse people with disabilities.
