Golden Plains Shire Council is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for young bands across the Shire to participate in the Golden Plains Youth Battle of the Bands competition which will be held on Saturday 26 April from 1 to 4pm at Turtle Bend Reserve in Teesdale.
Bands made up of young people aged 12 to 25 across the Shire are encouraged to submit an EOI for the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience at the biggest live music competition in Golden Plains.
Presented by the FReeZA Youth Events Crew, with support from Council’s Youth Development Team, Battle of the Bands features young up and coming bands showcasing a variety of genres on the centre stage.
Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Sarah Hayden encouraged young bands to express their interest in performing at the event.
Over recent years, Battle of the Bands has proven a success with audiences far and wide attending the event. We’re thrilled to be back in 2025 and providing our young bands the opportunity to perform live, Cr Hayden said.
I’m thrilled to invite all young musicians aged 12 to 25 to seize this incredible opportunity, and take centre stage to showcase their many sounds, genres and talents.
The Battle of the Bands competition is funded by FReeZA, a Victorian Government initiative that supports young Victorians to get involved in their community by planning and running drug, smoke, vaping and alcohol-free music and cultural events for other young people. This is an all ages, fully supervised event with strictly no pass outs. Food options will be available at the event.
Expressions of Interest are open from Monday 3 March to 5pm, Friday 14 March 2025. To submit an Expression of Interest, visit goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations. Hard copies are also available at Council’s Customer Hubs, 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn and 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale.
