Golden Plains Shire Council is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for young musicians across the Shire to participate in the Golden Plains Youth Battle of the Bands competition which will be held on Saturday 24 August from 6.30 to 9.30pm at the Inverleigh Public Hall, 71 High Street, Inverleigh.

Open to all young people aged 12 to 25, Battle of the Bands is a showcase of young up and coming artists, inclusive of all genres, with bands, soloists, duo performances and digital artists all welcome to express their interest in performing.

Presented by the FReeZA Youth Events Crew, with support from Council’s Youth Development Team, the competition is designed to support emerging musicians by providing a safe and inclusive opportunity to perform in front of a live audience.

Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham encourages young musicians and artists from across the Shire to express their interest in performing at the event.

I am thrilled that Battle of the Bands is returning in 2024 after a successful event last year where we witnessed the incredible talents of the young musicians in our Shire,” Cr Cunningham said.

I encourage young people aged 12 to 25 to express their interest in taking centre stage at the event and showcasing their musical talents in front of a live audience,” he said.

The Battle of the Bands competition is funded by FReeZA, a Victorian Government initiative that supports young Victorians to get involved in their community by planning and running drug, smoke, vaping and alcohol-free music and cultural events for other young people. This is an all ages, fully supervised event with strictly no pass outs.

Expressions of Interest are open from Monday 17 June until 9am, Monday 15 July 2024. To submit an EOI, visit goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations
