Council is working in partnership with the Victorian Government to introduce new recycling collection services in Golden Plains Shire. These services are designed to support a Circular Economy and reduce waste going to landfills.
Under Victorian Government legislation, all Councils must move to a standard four-bin system: red for general waste, yellow for mixed recycling, purple for glass and lime green for combined food and garden organics (FOGO).
From February 2025, Golden Plains Shire residents have been separating their waste and recycling into three streams:
- Glass
- Mixed recyclables
- General waste
